The paintings are still blackened and smelling of gunpowder, which can only be the works of artist Cai Guo-Qiang, from New York (USA) are on display in the city of Donetsk, Ukraine. The exhibition is called "1040 Underground", was inspired by Ukraine's Donbas industrial parks, where mining of salt and coal. During a visit to the Donbas, he met dusty miners underground at a depth of 1,040 m above the ground. After sketching the portraits of 27 miners, the artist uses gunpowder with different doses at each location on the portrait and then detonated to create the effect. Paintings by gunpowder attracts many visitors at the Izolyatsia center come to view.
